Shure's E500PTH earbuds cut you off from the outside world, then pump the soul of the singer directly into your brain. Should you wish to engage with other humans, there's a push-to-hear dongle that activates a microphone on the main cable. The E500PTHs are very fine indeed, but for £400, they should be. Are they reassuringly expensive, or the epitome of foolishness?
