WHY I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT MY
Wacom A3 Graphics Tablet
Why did you buy it?
Most illustrators were trained using pen and paper. Although the mouse is great for photo retouching work, I really need to feel as though I'm drawing onto the computer screen. That's why I had to buy a tablet. I've used two other Wacom tablets, but the A3 version I have now is by far my favourite toy in the world.
What does it do for you?
It lets me work on illustrations in Photoshop in a completely natural way. Although I still use pencil and paper for my initial sketches, once these are scanned in I do all of my work on the computer. The Wacom has a really natural response. It's not exactly like drawing on paper, but it's pretty close.
Would you recommend it to others? Why?
I can't imagine illustrating without a tablet. If you're an artist it's essential for graphics work in Photoshop. I've had this A3 version for two years and it's never failed me. When I made the switch from PC to Mac, I just plugged the tablet into my G5 and it worked instantly! Wacom are well-respected in the world of illustration.
