Why did you buy it?
To record songs. I do a lot of travelling between dives and I like to mix tracks on my PowerBook to pass the time. I've used Logic for years and this new version totally redlines. The bundled synthesisers can be played via the PowerBook's keyboard, so I don't always need to lug around a MIDI keyboard to program basic melodies. The only way I can express how much I like this is to say Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaghghghghghg!! [the interview subject stood up and leapt around the room at this point]
What does it do for you?
It keeps me entertained for hours on end. I love music almost as much as I like diving. A few years ago it would have been impossible for the lifestyle of a diving instructor to accommodate this kind of thing. Because of Logic Pro and the PowerBook I can carry a recording studio in my rucksack.
Would you recommend it to others? Why?
Yes. If you're a musician, Logic Pro is the closest you can get to a full-blown recording studio in a box. Some people swear by other software like Pro Tools, but I've never come to a point in Logic where I've had to say: hang on, I can't do this with this software. It surprises me almost every time I use it -- seriously clever stuff..jpg)
